June 14, 2010. Powerful earthquake strikes Nicobar Island

A magnitude 7.5 on the Richter scale earthquake struck about 150km (95 miles) west of India's Nicobar Islands in the Indian Ocean on June 12th, with the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC) initially issuing a warning for the entire Indian Ocean region, before it was canceled. No significant damage was reported in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, although a total blackout took place in Port Blair.
