May 10, 2010. Magnitude 7.4 earthquake strikes Indonesia

A 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck on May 9th some 214km (133 miles) south of Banda Aceh, capital of Indonesia's Aceh region, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported. Officials at the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued a tsunami alert before it was later lifted after a tsunami was not generated. The earthquake caused some panic in parts of Aceh but no significant casualties or damages.
