March 3, 2010. Chilean president calls for calm as death toll nears 800

Chilean President Michelle Bachelet said on March 2nd that the death toll from an 8.8 magnitude earthquake had risen to 795. Bachelet called for calm amid ongoing reports of looting. The number of police officers and soldiers has been increased in the worst hit towns and more than 100 people arrested.
