February 7, 2010. Earthquake survivors accuse mayor of hoarding aid during protest

Hundreds of earthquake survivors held a protest in Port-au-Prince's Petionville suburb on February 7th as they made accusations that the district mayor was hoarding food aid provided by relief groups. Protesters banged on plastic buckets and waved branches and palm fronds as they blamed corruption for the slow distribution of aid.

Meanwhile, a new food and water distribution plan was launched on February 4th and coordinated by the United Nations, the Haitian government, and several non-governmental humanitarian organizations. The plan includes 16 fixed distribution points and a coupon voucher system to receive supplies.
